A mooncake is a Chinese bakery product traditionally eaten during the Mid-Autumn Festival. The festival is about lunar appreciation and Moon watching, and mooncakes are regarded as an indispensable delicacy. Mooncakes are offered between friends or on family gatherings while celebrating the festival. The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the four most important Chinese festivals.
月餅(bǐng)是中國烘焙食品，通常在中秋節期間享用。中秋節是賞月的節日 ，月餅(bǐng)被認爲是不可或缺的美食 。月餅(bǐng)是在朋友之間或在家庭聚會上慶祝節日時提供的 。中秋節是中國四個(gè)最重要的節日之一 。
Typical mooncakes are round pastries, measuring about 10 cm in diameter and 3–4 cm thick, and are commonly eaten in the Southern and Northern Chinese regions. A rich thick filling usually made from red bean or lotus seed paste is surrounded by a thin, 2–3 mm (approximately 1/8th of an inch) crust and may contain yolks from salted duck eggs. Today, it is customary for businessmen and families to present them to their clients or relatives as presents, helping to fuel a demand for high-end mooncakes.
典型的月餅直徑約10厘米、厚約3、4厘米的圓形糕點 ，在中國南方和北方地區很常見。它的餡料通常由紅豆或蓮蓉制成，外面包裹著(zhe)一層薄的2、3毫米的外皮，還可能含有鹹鴨蛋的蛋黃。如今，形成瞭(le)一種将月餅作爲禮物送給客戶或親戚的習俗，同時對高端月餅的需求也在增加。
